Book four of Lauretta Hignett’s Imogen Gray series, Immortal Life, cranks up the heat—on the action, the romance, the stakes, and the emotional gut-punches. Just when you think Imogen might finally catch a break or get a clue (in the best way), life in Emerald Valley says, “Absolutely not.”

Imogen: Still a Hot Mess, Still a Hero
By this point in the series, you know Imogen Gray isn’t your typical heroine. She’s immortal, yes. She’s powerful, definitely. But she’s also sarcastic, emotionally stunted, and hilariously clueless when it comes to love. And that’s what makes her so easy to root for.
In Immortal Life, Imogen inches closer to unraveling the truth of what she really is—and maybe, just maybe, how to change it. But of course, nothing is ever that easy. There’s a stalker claiming they’re “fated mates” (creepy), demons causing chaos around town (again), and oh yeah—she’s still sorting out her very complicated feelings about Rafael, the Vampire King who makes everything even more confusing… and steamy.
Action, Emotion, and Laugh-Out-Loud Snark
This book delivers all the things you’ve come to expect from Hignett’s writing: wild supernatural battles, laugh-out-loud banter, emotional depth, and slow-burn romance that makes your chest ache in the best way. There’s humor, heartbreak, and even moments of grief that sneak up on you and hit hard.
What stands out here is the emotional growth. Imogen is evolving, slowly, awkwardly, and with the occasional disastrous choice, but it’s happening. And it feels real. These characters aren’t just fun to read about. They feel like friends.
Final Thoughts
Immortal Life is chaotic, heartfelt, and endlessly entertaining. It’s packed with demons, emotional breakthroughs, awkward romance moments, and some of the most relatable immortals you’ll ever meet. This book made me laugh, cry, and immediately want to reread the entire series.
If you’ve been following Imogen’s journey, you’ll love this next chapter. If you haven’t started yet—what are you waiting for? The Imogen Gray series is a gem of urban fantasy, full of magic, sarcasm, and a whole lot of heart.
