April was a solid reading month. I got through 10 books, including a handful of ARCs that I absolutely loved. Huge thanks to the authors who trusted me with their stories—I truly appreciate it.

I also discovered two new-to-me authors, Lauretta Hignett and Annabel Chase, and I’ve been on a binge-reading spree ever since. (More on Annabel’s books in next month’s wrap-up, I’m sure.) On top of that, I finally started reading some of the books I grabbed during Stuff Your Kindle Day, which, let’s be honest, has turned my TBR into a monster. But I regret nothing.

Now, onto the books I read in April—listed in the order I finished them:

Undine’s Blessing by Tessa Hastjarjanto

A heartwarming, whimsical tale perfect for readers who enjoy beautifully crafted fantasy worlds, thoughtful character arcs, and magical adventures centered on self-discovery.

The Wolf vs the Vampire by Lauretta Hignett

If you love urban fantasy that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still brings great storytelling, fun characters, and plenty of snark, this one’s for you.

The Goddess Of by Randi Garner

Recommended by a friend on Threads who was already raving about book two. This one is lush, emotional, and totally immersive. Think slow-burn romantasy with layered world-building and mythology.

Immortal by Lauretta Hignett

Snarky, smart, and just the right amount of dark. There’s one scene near the end that’s a bit too gory, so maybe don’t snack while reading. Otherwise? Pure urban fantasy gold.

Even in Death by Randi Garner

This is the book my friend couldn’t stop talking about—and I get it now. It’s darker, heavier, and more emotionally intense than the first, but beautifully executed. If you like your romances slow-burn and painful (in a good way), read it.

Immortal World by Lauretta Hignett

Hignett delivers again with humor, heart, and high-stakes drama. The world-building is rich, but it’s the character work, especially Imogen, that really makes it shine.

The Sapien Empire: The Realms of Restarted Civilization by Nathan Ogloff

A thoughtful take on speculative fiction, this book imagines what comes after the collapse. It’s philosophical, patient, and deeply interested in how societies rebuild—flawed, fragile, and full of hope.

Dead Blood City by Jo Denning

Dark, gritty, and emotionally raw. It blends mystery and mythology into a brutal urban fantasy. Heavy content, but if you’re up for something intense, it’s worth it. Definitely check the trigger warnings first.
